A Sustainable Supply Chain

Better plants. Less impact. Closer to home.

The ornamental plant industry relies heavily on international supply chains. Plants are often grown far from where they are sold, travelling long distances through multiple countries before reaching retailers and consumers.

At Airis Garden, we believe there is a better way.

By combining innovative growing technology with local production in Sweden, we aim to make the Alocasia supply chain shorter, cleaner and more responsible — without compromising on quality.

Grown Closer to Home

Many tropical houseplants sold in Europe originate from growers in warmer parts of the world. Their journey can involve several stages of cultivation, handling and international transportation.

We take a different approach.

Our Alocasia plants are grown locally in Sweden, in a controlled indoor environment that allows year-round production. By bringing cultivation closer to the market, we can reduce dependence on long-distance transportation and create a more reliable supply of premium plants.

Local production also gives us greater control over quality, growing conditions and working practices.

Less Transportation. Lower Emissions.

Transporting living plants can be resource-intensive. They require space, careful handling and suitable conditions throughout their journey.

By growing in Sweden, we can shorten transport distances to Scandinavian customers and reduce the need for international shipments.

Our Alocasia corms offer another advantage. These small propagation structures can be transported in compact, lightweight packages and grown into finished plants closer to their final market.

This creates opportunities to reduce shipping weight, packaging requirements and transport-related emissions.

Using Water More Efficiently

Water is an essential resource in horticulture, but conventional cultivation can consume significant amounts of it.

Our soil-free growing technology delivers water and nutrients directly to the roots through an automated spraying system. By controlling when and how much water is supplied, we can minimise waste and use water more efficiently.

The result is a growing process designed to produce healthy plants with substantially less water.

Growing Without Pesticides

Pests and plant diseases are major challenges in the ornamental plant industry. They can spread through growing media, plants and international shipments, sometimes requiring chemical treatments.

At Airis Garden, our plants begin their lives in a protected, soil-free environment.

This significantly reduces exposure to soil-borne pests and allows us to grow without pesticides during this stage of production.

Healthy plants from the start mean fewer problems further down the supply chain.

Better Conditions Through Local Production

Sustainability is not only about emissions and resources. It is also about people.

By keeping production close to home, we can maintain direct oversight of working conditions, safety and everyday growing practices.

We believe responsible production should include fair working conditions, transparency and respect for the people behind every plant.

A Smarter Way to Distribute Alocasia

Our products are designed for different stages of the supply chain.

Potted Alocasia — locally grown, finished plants ready for wholesalers and retailers looking for a premium Scandinavian-grown assortment.

Alocasia Corms — compact propagation material for professional growers and retailers who want to cultivate plants closer to their customers.

Together, these formats give our partners greater flexibility in how they source, grow and sell Alocasia.

Growing a Better Future

We know that no form of plant production is entirely without environmental impact. Indoor cultivation requires energy, materials and resources, and sustainability means continuously improving how we use them.

Our ambition is to challenge the conventional supply chain by making plant production more local, resource-efficient and transparent.

One Alocasia at a time.

A shorter journey. A smaller footprint. A better way to grow.
